Up until now, the field of Tangible User Interfaces and Augmented Reality have focused primarily on specific interaction and application areas. As such, there is no general-purpose framework to support tangible interaction. Despite having tangible and augmented reality system, for every system developers need to first write tracking code, create 3D models of the objects involved in the system and then actually write the interaction code.
This project is looking to enable tangible systems to be defined on-the-fly using only the objects the user wants to utilise in the system – i.e. there is no need for a developer to first author a system to enable a specific application. Given the framework provides a generic application of tangible UIs, the user can utilise the system in various scenarios.
